QuiltEd Partners scaffolds the work of learning to figure that out — together. We provide customized partnerships that build trust, surface the patterns that matter, and strengthen outcomes for learners and communities.
About QuiltEd Partners
QuiltEd Partners — Qualitative Inquiry for Learning, Transformation and Educational Partnerships — is a consulting practice built on a foundational belief: that the quality of a community’s generative thinking determines the quality of its future. We work with boards, leadership teams, educators, and caregivers to close the distance between their values-based intentions and their impact on students and their learning.
We know this work is challenging, so we focus on ensuring that no one has to go it alone. Our best learning happens when we have space to build trust and capacity together. QuiltEd Partners constructs partnerships that provide external support for the powerful work of learning from practice — giving leaders, educators, and caregivers protected space and time to single-task. Together we work with present realities, current dilemmas, and context-specific goals. Rather than providing answers, we generate new ways of thinking about and tackling challenges.
Our Founder
Shauna Brown Leung brings more than 25 years of experience in education. She credits her kaleidoscopic perspective to having learned from serving in a range of roles that include qualitative researcher, educator, school leader, professional developer, and consultant. She brings a systems perspective to this work, having studied organizational learning and organizational change at the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University, where she was also a member of the faculty for Instructional Rounds in Education.
Shauna’s professional experience spans the K–12 sector and includes work in higher education and the nonprofit sector. She has served as a high school social studies teacher, a school leader in public and private schools, a support provider through school-serving nonprofits including the College Board and the National Council on Education and the Economy, and a higher education administrator. Each of these roles has deepened her understanding of the complexity and richness of school communities, and the diverse range of expertise that undergirds school and student success.
Shauna launched QuiltEd Partners in 2020, with a dream of making the knowledge practices of qualitative researchers more available in people-serving organizations. Since then she has worked with schools, the National Park Service, Community Development Corporations, and nonprofit organizations. Each has deepened Shauna’s conviction that the patterns that matter most are found by looking carefully — together — at the work already underway.
“QuiltEd’s partnership has been transformative. Through strategic coaching, thoughtful planning, and systems design, they helped transfer institutional knowledge, strengthen alignment across Academic and Student Life, and clarify the scope and purpose of my office’s work. Their guidance advanced our DEIA initiatives by fostering faculty and staff buy-in, centering equity and community building, and promoting accountability without punitive practices. QuiltEd challenged us to differentiate true equity issues, respond thoughtfully to critique, and translate our values into institutional change. Their work supported every area of school life — from refining academic and admissions data practices to bolstering retention of BIPOC staff — creating sustainable structures for a more equitable and connected community.”— Coy Dailey, Director of Equity and Community Engagement, The Brearley School
What We Offer
Each engagement is customized — built around your community's real dilemmas, your own data, and your own people, so that the capacity stays with you long after our work together ends. Each offering builds the confidence and capacity to act — responding skillfully, with agility rather than a prescription.
A structured, facilitated engagement where every board member's voice matters. We work with boards navigating the shift from oversight to ownership — building the collective thinking capacity to hold diverse perspectives as a source of wisdom and make decisions that reflect the community's deepest values.
A protected space where every voice on the leadership team matters. We work across silos to build shared language, creative problem solving, and the capacity for sustainable change — so that complex dilemmas become opportunities for alignment rather than sources of division.
A facilitated space where educators and caregivers can slow down, think together, and be heard. We work through the real dilemmas that impact students and their learning — building the trust and shared understanding that makes collaboration more effective and the work feel less isolating.
